Telligent to Fly

Telligent Systems Most likely you’ve heard the exciting news about Telligent today: Intel Capital acquires $20 million stake in Telligent.

First of all, I would congratulate Rob Howard, Jason Alexander, Scott Watermasysk and Scott Dockendorf on this big achievement in their business. They really deserved this after these years of continuous success to keep the company up and growing!

Furthermore, this is very interesting news for me as I’ve been following Telligent from the infancy stages of its existence and have been in close relationship with many of the guys inside the company. As I had stated before, it’s really nice to sit and see the future of something that you have been caring for a long time and have seen its growth day after day!

Going back and forth in the history of Telligent, I can remember the days when company was very small with a few employees who were well-known .NET super starts and dropped the early builds of Community Server. Since those days I absorbed in their works and actively contributed to their community to the present day. To be honest, I learned many stuff from this contribution and it’s been a pleasure for me to be an active contributor to this community forever. Telligent opened new doors to me and helped me form a position for myself on the .NET community.

A short while ago I wrote a blog post explaining the smooth internal transition from an open business on top of the community to an active business based on professionalism at Telligent. While those statements are still accurate, I’d repeat that despite its unfavorable nature for us (as community members), this change in the strategies by Telligent leadership was not necessarily a negative decision but a clever change that could refine Telligent business.

Recently Telligent showed several signs of fundamental changes in its business and its strong plan to become a bigger company with more professional products and service. They’re kicking tires for a clear future that can put them along fast-growing successful companies in the software field in the recent years.

By the way, I’m pretty sure that this acquirement by Intel Capital is a big support for Telligent leaders to move the company forward and plan for a better future and is also a good investment for Intel in the long run.

Do you think this also implies that the support costs and CS product costs are going to increase though?

@Oel:

I don't know! Somone at Telligent would be able to give a better answer to your question.
