You know that Windows Vista will come with many new features. One of them is Gadgets.
Gadgets are really cool feature for everyone. You can have anything on your sidebar.
Jeff Sandquist announced new updates in Microsoft Gadgets website. Now you can discuss about Gadgets in Forums and download several Gadgets from Gallery. (Their website is powered by Community Server)
Try to write a Gadget and send them to win an Xbox 360. Gadgets can be designed by DHTML codes.
On the other hand Microsoft has web based Gadgets. The goal is to give users an online tool like Desktop Gadgets in Windows Vista. Sanaz Ahari (Program Manager of Microsoft Start.Com) and their team designed an excellent website: Start.Com. They upgraded it in some steps but now they announce new website: Live.Com. This new one inherited previous one but has new features.
In both websites you can add your favorite RSS feeds to homepage or sidebar and read them every time you visit homepage or use default Gadgets like Weather Forecasts and Mail (Last one is supported only in Live.Com)
In this video MS Gadgets team described Desktop and web based Gadgets.
And another nice work from Microsoft is Windows Sideshow. Watch this video about it.
