Is There Anything Sweeter Than Blogging?

The answer is obvious: yes, there are many things!

My regular visitors may have noticed a change in my blogging recently. During the past three years of blogging I always had an active blog and it never happened to have 4 posts in 10 days when I'm not away. I had a more active blog even when I was completely away to military training last year!

One of the side-effects of doing a regular work for a long time is when you change your manner, you feel bad for a while and now I have that feeling! Behind the scenes, blogging teaches you discipline and time management and trains you in this way.

While .NET community is experiencing a silent season due to the recent events and conferences that kept active bloggers away but however, I thought it's better to leave a note and let everyone knows about my reasons because this progress may continue in the near future.

You may think that I don't have any idea to write about but the reality is different. I have tons of ideas to write about them but for three reasons I can't.

The first reason is the fact that my blogging style has changed smoothly during the time. Even though I try to depend on myself on my blog but my audience are also very important for me. During the time I believed some facts about the interest of my readers for technical stuff and try to provide something to help them. So I don't write some posts like the past when I was referring to something good or interesting or try to avoid reposting an announcement unless I think that I can help spread that announcement.

The second reason is my regular posts are actually similar to articles, tutorials or tips that can be published on .NET communities. Of course, this takes a longer time than a pure textual post when I have to write a sample and describe it. Fortunately I'm fast in writing such posts but can't ignore the more time that they take. Here I have a small problem regarding the third reason that comes in a moment.

The third reason, and the main reason, is time because abovementioned reasons were with me for a long while. Even though this third reason has been here as well but this time it's duplicated!

There are various reasons that have joint together to make me so busy recently. Some of them are personal and some of them are technical. Here I outline them even though there is no benefit for a technical reader who's looking for something that may help him or her.

One of the main things that has made me busy in the past 14 months is military service which would not be considered here as it's an expected parameter. But the other thing is a big project that I've been working on in the recent three months very actively and have been thinking and researching for it for almost three years! This project is going to hit an Alpha in the next couple of weeks and by nature it required a hard work and research for many topics and aspects. I'll write more about its technical details after announcing it but in fact it got much time from me to write a high performance, secure and powerful application that works (because here and for this project working is not something easy to achieve). In the latest days I worked hard to wrap up things for an Alpha so was busy in this while. But one point that attracted me more and more and is related to the title of this blog post is the fact that I love this project. It's sweet enough to get my mind for a long while. It's much more sweeter than blogging.

The other reason was some side projects and interests like writing a whitepaper for Microsoft and tech-editing some chapters of Wrox Professional Visual Studio 2008 (that I also have contributed three chapters to it). This latter one wasn't expected and a few days ago I suddenly received a request from my friends at Wiley/Wrox for helping them so I tried to do my best for them.

The last thing that I'd like to mention is I've had a busy mind recently. Going to hit the end of service is equal to thinking about the future of my life and I've been thinking seriously for that. From a long while ago I had some big plans for my future and now I'm thinking about them. Of course, I also worry about the future which makes me upset and locks me at some points!

All in all, I'm passing a very sensitive part of my life. Things wouldn't be as are and somehow they're brought to my life by environment. I always wrestled with this and am getting tired of this process!

Keyvan, just a little encouragement when it may be helpful: I bought your book and read through it on the six hour flight to the 2008 MVP Summit. I had a few chapters left over to read the rest of Sunday April 13, as I arrived a day early.

Great book! You've really brought VSX within my reach as a tool I'll be using for years to come.

Thanks!

K-man, I still say you've had a phenomenal year and incredible output! I often think of how impressive it is knowing that English is your second language!

Keep up the great work, but don't push it too hard. Even young men need a break now and then.

@Dave Burke:

Thank you man :-) Actually there is no chance for a break until I finish the service so I would wait for more five months! Then I really want to have a good break ;-)

That's good to hear. You've earned it.

btw, I'm noticing that comment fields are being retained. Is that a Graffiti bug?

@Dave Burke:

Yes, it would be since this comment form is just a macro template that I have no control on it.
