Graffiti 1.2 Released

Telligent Graffiti CMS In the latest days before the holidays Telligent developers have been busy working on the new version of Graffiti CMS, and yesterday they dropped the new version, version 1.2.

It’s been quite a long while since they published version 1.1 and project went silent. Recently Telligent announced the roadmap for Graffiti CMS in the upcoming year, and confirmed that there will be a minor update in the end of the year.

Version 1.2 doesn’t apply major changes and doesn’t come with database schema updates, so it’s quite easy to upgrade to this version. It’s actually a patch to fix some issues and nothing more. You can download this version from here.

I upgraded my blog to the new version in less than a minute (it’s nothing but replacement of a few files). Most likely there isn’t anything that a public user can notice, but some of the bug fixes are helpful.

I was going to release a new version of Graffiti Extras a few weeks ago, but decided to wait for the new version in order to have something up to date; therefore, expect a new version of the project in the next few days with some new features and bug fixes.

By the way, one point that I’ve been thinking about is the fact that finding new ideas for new features in Graffiti should be a little difficult because it’s a thorough product as is. It’s easy to install and upgrade, and provides all the modern features that someone may need. It also offers a great level of extensibility, and all these points make it hard to find new features to add to the product. Taking a look at the recent roadmap, you believe that upcoming features are not such common concerns for all the users.

Graffiti is a nice product but the support has been terrible. Luckily for them the product is quite easy to pick up.

I understand they are refocusing their efforts around the product so hopefully things will improve.

A few features I can think of that would be nice:

1. The ability to exlcude posts and/or categories from the overall rss feed

2. The ability to place a post in more than one category.

3. Mulitple levels of sub-categories.

A short while after hitting the 1000th post milestone , today my blog turns four to somehow become one of the mature blogs on the community! It’s really hard to believe that fours years are gone. I feel it was a few weeks ago when I began blogging
