During the past 2-3 weeks I’ve been working on a real state site that required a map exhibition of the properties as an integral part of the business workflow.
Most likely you know that there are several ASP.NET server controls for this purpose but I found Artem GoogleMap control the best one to use. So writing about this valuable open source project is the least possible job that I can do in appreciation of this great work.
I was looking for a fully-featured ASP.NET server control that saves me from doing any extra work and lets me deal with all the Google Maps API features easily and quickly. I found some articles and projects but none of them were very satisfying like Artem GoogleMap control.
This ASP.NET server control is an open source project hosted on CodePlex and developed mainly by Velio Ivanov at ArtemBG company. This control offers all the features of the Google Maps API out of the box with a very simple and easy to use structure. All I had to do was adding the control and setting some properties and it did its job very well. To be honest, I didn’t get such a good experience from some of the other controls when I was initially evaluating my options.
Doubtlessly this control is the only ASP.NET server control that offers this number of features. One important advantage of this control is its shared source that can be adapted easily. Artem GoogleMap control is licensed under a Microsoft Permissive License (Ms-PL).
In my honest opinion, such projects deserve more acclaim from the community.
