Subkismet - The Cure For Comment Spam
Phil Haack, who is now in fatherhood, has done it again with Subkismet (Subtext + Akismet).
As he writes:
It’s more than just an Akismet client for .NET, it’s a library of SPAM squashing code meant to be useful to developers who are building web applications that require user input such as Blogs, Forums, etc...
Right now, Subkismet is made of three components that are written by Phil:
- Akismet
- Invisible Captcha
- Captcha
The nice point about Subkismet is it's the first open source library to fight against spam on .NET community (I haven't seen any similar library yet) and can open some doors to .NET developers to write spam-safer web applications with ASP.NET.
Phil has hosted Subkismet on CodePlex (like Phil, I had many troubles with their source control recently) and there is a Beta download package available there.
I may apply Subkismet in Community Server later even though Community Server has great spam blocking features and they don't allow any spam to get published on my blog.
