Graffiti Extras 1.2 Released

Graffiti Extras Most likely you know that I have an open source project called Graffiti Extras targeting Telligent Graffiti CMS and some plug-ins, extensions and widgets for this simple but powerful CMS to extend its core behavior for many of the contemporary requirements.

Fortunately this project has proven to be the most popular project around Graffiti CMS and I’m happy for this. So far we’ve had two releases (1.0 and 1.1) for Graffiti 1.0 and Graffiti 1.0 Service Pack 1 respectively.

Three weeks ago Telligent released version 1.1 of Graffiti CMS but as I was busy with some projects including Waegis, I couldn’t update Graffiti Extras to now.

In the past week Brian and I have been working to add some new features and solve some issues with existing extras and today we finally could drop this release publicly.

Even though there are some major changes for this new version but to keep the consistency among our versions and original product I just updated our version to 1.2. So Graffiti Extras 1.2 targets Graffiti CMS 1.1! I hope that Telligent moves to 2.0 for next version!

For this version not only we fixed a few issues with our existing plug-ins and extensions but also we added new features to the project.

One of these additions is a new plug-in that is already familiar to you because I had released it as a part of available extensions for Waegis! Yes, this new plug-in is Waegis anti-spam plug-in that is 100% integrated with Graffiti Extras to bring a new functionality to your Graffiti sites.

The other addition is a new Poll Manager widget that is done by Brian and lets you have integrated and simple polls on your site as a widget. I bet this is also a pretty sweet feature to be there!

The last change is that we now provide a Graffiti package as our primary and recommended installation option that makes things pretty simple and sweet! I had written about Graffiti packages and how to create them before. After this, you can download a single XML file and install it via your Control Panel and add a variety for different files like assemblies, JavaScript files, images, themes and code files to your site!

So now our project consists of the following extras:

Before giving the final notes, let me thank Thomas Freudenberg for his previous work on Sharing extension and Robert Bazinet for his contribution to the current version as a minor fix.

You can download Graffiti Extras 1.2 from our workspace. There you can find three separate files to download: Graffiti package file which is the simplest and recommended installation option, binary file (for post-modern users!) and source code file.

Please note that if you are going to install Graffiti Extras 1.2 on your server using the package option, first you need to delete all existing files from previous versions of Graffiti Extras project including assemblies, themes, images and other files as well as all the files related to my Waegis Graffiti plug-in.
