Continued Story of Number of Types in the .NET Framework
Recently Brad Abrams wrote a blog post about the number of types in the NET framework with some general statistics.
After this very nice post, Patrick Smacchia wrote a blog post following to Brad and gave some statistics that were generated by the great tool that he has written, NDepend. His results were a little different from what Brad had published and there were lots of interesting reactions against it.
Patrick has published a second post with a more detailed discussion with great details about this topic and reasons that may provide these differences.
This second post by Patrick is most likely the best one on this topic and I really enjoyed it.
You would agree that code metrics are a great way to improve your design and of course learn about an existing platform like .NET framework. For myself, reading this post had a good impact on my mind to understand some facts about .NET framework design.
