BlogML Official Website Goes Live

BlogML

[Update: Talking to Community Server folks, we may switch to this better thing with their help very soon!  More details to come!  Neither myself nor Darren were happy with this choice.]

As I had outlined before, one of our main goals in BlogML.vNext is the richer documentation for the project.  To accomplish this, we decided to create an official website to share our documentation on it and give our project a better personality.  The result was an official site for BlogML on BogML.Org.

The site is powered by DotNetNuke!  And I know that you suddenly ask why we haven't chosen Community Server?  Ok, I answer you.

For this site, we needed a Ready to Go application with the ability to create documentation, Wiki and FAQ as well as some other content pages and a good membership system.  Unfortunately Community Server doesn't have good features for documentation and Wiki purposes and this was the main reason that we couldn't use it.  Of course, it was better than DotNetNuke in other areas.  On the other hand, we had two choices: FlexWiki and DotNetNuke.  FlexWiki has the best ASP.NET powered Wiki application but lacks some other features for documentation, FAQ and content pages but DotNetNuke has a good combination of all these features.  As you know, I didn't like to ignore Community Server for our case but unfortunately there is a reasonable difference between DotNetNuke and Community Server when it comes to documentation and Wiki modules.  I hope we could have a good community project for Community Server Wiki but the only one, that is developed already, couldn't attract me at all!  This can be a good idea for a new project after finishing my military service though!

However, having DotNetNuke as our portal application (I know no one loves this including myself!), we've created several pages for the project including Documentation, Wiki, FAQ, About, About the Team, Roadmap, License and ...  There is also a feedback module that you can use to send your feedbacks about project to (like the one that Mitch has written about the reason we crated this project and chose DotNetNuke and you can't see it!).

I hope that we can find new team members who can help us on creating documentation for the project.  This is one of several ways that you can contribute to an open source project so you can become our Director of Documentation if you can't or don't like to write codes.  We really appreciate any help!

We're also going to get sponsors and put advertisements on the site to make money and bring it to the project.  I'm sure this improves the project a lot!  You can also order BlogML T-Shirts on CafePress and advertise us!

That is great news Keyvan. The BlogML support for BlogEngine.NET will be added within a month to the BlogML solution.
