You see new advertisements for job positions on Nayyeri.NET that I've added to my site yesterday.
Last week Phil Haack had introduced a new advertisement network which has its focus on job positions around .NET and programming and wants to use blogs as its advertisement field. I sent my request and they approved it yesterday. I had to make some changes and tune their JavaScript code with my site. Now it's working fine and you can start using it.
HiddenNetwork is a network of sites that is created by Alex Papadimoulis (the founder of TheDailyWTF). They've chosen .NET blogosphere to connect employers and professional developers. The idea behind this decision is great because usually professional .NET developers read professional .NET blogs. Someone who wants to be active and learn more reads blogs so .NET blogosphere is a good field to implement this idea.
Fortunately HiddenNetwork could be success up to now and I hope they can keep this great job up. I also hope that my site can connect good professionals to employers.
If you want to create a new job listing, apply for a new job or refer to my site, my publisher ID is 1069. By navigating to this link, a cookie will be saved in your browser which helps their system to recognize you as a guy who is coming from my site. You can also subscribe to RSS feed of job positions for my site here.
Speaking of advertisements on Nayyeri.NET, I think it's better to write some words about the reasons and goals I have to put advertisements on my site.
For first year of blogging I didn't use any advertisement on my site. After that I added Google Adsense scripts to my pages. Recently I added some free banners for .NET communities just to help the community to grow. I also tried Amazon Associates program since last month. And now HiddenNetwork advertisements.
Not only me but also most of bloggers don't start and follow blogging as a business to make money but there are some reasons to put advertisements in order to get money. One of them is for hosting. Another one is you're giving your time to others to teach them something or let them know new things so it's worth to get money from their eyes.
I'm a little queasy over the advertisement on all sites. You know I want to keep my site's speed and quality in a good level and advertisement shouldn't effect them. For this reason I try to turn advertisement to my site to get best result. For example, Google Link Enhancer JavaScript codes are slower than what I want so I moved them to my server and am hosting them locally to keep my speed (if you want to see Link Enhancer in action move your mouse cursor over on one of my Amazon book links from web). However, I prefer to avoid using advertisements if they're causing my site to be slower. I also put advertisements in a form that they appear as a part of my content. This is an important tip about text Ads.
Having said this, I don't pay for my site hosting (thank to ASPnix) and also didn't have any plan to make money through it when started blogging. Now that I can get money from it, want to use it for something useful for humanity. So probably I'll use a part of what I get from advertisement on my site to donate local or international foundations. I think this is a good idea and can help other humans. Seeing a link, clicking on it and getting 1 or 2 dollars from it is almost nothing (or normal thing) both for my visitors and for me but I'm sure this 1 dollar can help someone somewhere. I've been lucky enough in blogging to get more visitors every day. I get at least two or three new job offers per week but haven't applied for none of them because didn't have time so I don't need what I get through blogging. On the other hand I'm not a money lover, I love to live. I prefer to use my time to enjoy my life, watch movies, listen to music and read books rather than working more and more to get money and save it somewhere for an unknown future.
Anyway, I'll save a part of what I'll get from advertisements on this site for its future (if I needed to pay for its hosting or anything else) and will donate remained money to foundations. I hope this get common between bloggers. Now that blogging is popular, it can be a good opportunity to use this popularity to help humans. It doesn't matter what we pay, the important thing is to make this common between all people around the world. You saw the power of blogging when Scott Hanselman could get good donations for his Diabetes Walk 2006.
Hopefully I'll write more about this later.
