Nayyeri.NET has been upgraded to Community Server 2.1.60713.726

From last night to today’s early morning I was working on Nayyeri.NET to upgrade it to Community Server 2.1 Beta 1.  It’s now upgraded and you can see fourth version of my website.

Things went faster than before because now it’s hosted on a dedicated box and I could do many steps faster.  As always, I got in some troubles with it but thank to Ken’s thoughts and my background in Community Server I could solve them.

I configured my site for single blog user in root with another method but Ken updated and published his ExtendedUrlMapping just some hours after I implemented my solution.  I have no plan to use external RSS feeds.  As you probably know Community Server 2.1 has a new feature which lets you to use some external feed services like FeedBurner instead of your default RSS feed (Scott Watermasysk said we shouldn’t call it FeedBurner feature!).

After this Nayyeri.NET will run under ASP.NET 2.0 and ASP.NET 1.1 has been left for it.  Everything is ok except some MOD that I’ll deploy to server in next a few days.

New blog template is Community Server 2.1 Paperclip default theme but I made some changes in its width and replaced top image with one of my own photos from Manjil lake (36°44'34.29"N, 49°22'52.12"E).

In latest weeks I was working to add new tags and assign my old posts to them and the process is now has been finished.  I’ve started a new CSModule to do this automatically based on keywords user gives to this CSModule.  I wish I can release it with other CSModules with Community Server 2.1 RTM.

One the other side I tried to reduce my homepage size by showing only 10 last posts and removing some unnecessary images.  Hope it loads faster.

But the bad news is about my Pagerank (or it’s better to say Google lacks!).  My Pagerank fall down to 4 while it had to improve.  Yesterday Google started some strange manners.  When I saw my new Pagerank, checked some SEO analyzer tools to know what’s going on.  Seems they have some intervals to update the list of “link to:“ links to a website and my turn was yesterday.  First the count of linked sites went down to zero then my Pagerank fall down to 4.

Today it improved from the past and increased so my Pagerank should be larger or equal to previous value but my Pagerank is still 4.  It shouldn’t be 4 and due to Google algorithms (and my compares) it should be 5 minimum.  I guess it changes again.  Please don’t give me Google algorithm because I know it and had a mathematical/statistical research on it so result is so strange for me.  While I was checking my stats, it gave back different results for sometimes and they weren’t stable.  So I guess Google is updating its stats for my external incoming links and this will change.  Anyway I haven’t created this website to get Google Pagerank!

Nice skin modification! And good to see the upgrade went fairly well! I am also working on updating a paperclip skin for a future move of my blog, or maybe I'll implemented on the current blog as well. Did you put the ads in the skin as well?

Looks good guy, nice photo! I'll probably wait until the RTM for my site(s). Make sure you turn on Auto Name Posts: ControlPanel/Blogs/PostOptions.aspx for an easy SEO bump.

J-O, Try to search for Ads in Community Server on CS.Org. Some parts of what I made is an MVP hack ;-) Jayson, Thanks, I'm checking auto naming feature on local machine to see how it replaces chars. I think they have to try to use shorter strings for names. For an instance current post's name will be very long (probably).

Yes that's correct, it will be. There are some issues encoding characters as well, but it's still much more SEO than the current format. The other thing is that your previous posts won't be Auto Named, though I'm thinking about working ona mod for this.

I've enabled it for newer posts. Yeah, I was thinking about it as well and it was my reason to wait for enabling it to keep everything similar. If CS accepts old urls while we put new names, we can simply write a CSModule to do this on post render or update but I'm not sure if they accepted old urls or not. It can be one of our CSMVPs.CSModules. + First I should solve my problems with Google. They've updated their index but haven't updated my pagerank :-P

Jayson, I checked it. CS 2.1 accepts post permalinks based on post publish date + PostID while you're using auto naming feature. You can simply go to CSMVPs.Com, find one of PostIDs and replace it with post name in permalink and get same result. So we can write a CSModule and implement this new feature for old urls easily.
